The circumstances of beauty queen Eleisha Skinner's death at 21 have been revealed nearly one month after her fatal accident.

The university student — who was crowned Miss Faversham in 2022 — died on Jan. 8, per a social media announcement later shared by the Faversham Carnival Club. The local English organization expressed its "deep regret and sadness" and noted that she died "following a tragic accident."

Per an inquest document from the Buckinghamshire Coroner's Office obtained by PEOPLE, Skinner was unpacking her vehicle when it moved and crushed against a wall. She phoned emergency services, then soon became unconscious. Her housemates heard her struggling and called for further help, and once medical personnel arrived, she was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Skinner died three days later, per the coroner's initial inquest on Jan. 16. The report also states that her medical cause of death was anoxic brain injury due to asphyxiation from traumatic compression injury.

The Beaconsfield coroner’s court website states that it will resume the inquest into Skinner's death on June 23.

Shortly after the tragic incident, Skinner's parents, Nigel and Clare, opened a GoFundMe to raise money for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance service. The page has received nearly 95 percent of its £7,500 (about $10,240 USD) goal.

"With the amazing response of the emergency services, we were able to spend her last few days with her. The air ambulance doctor was fantastic," the fundraiser's description reads. "We would like to raise funds in Eleisha’s name to support this charity, so they can continue the amazing work that they do."

Skinner's parents did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment regarding the circumstances of her tragic accident. However, they issued a statement to PEOPLE following the initial news of her death.

"It is with broken hearts that we share the devastating loss of our beautiful daughter, Eleisha," Nigel and Clare began. "Writing these words feels unimaginable, yet we want the world to know who she truly was a kind, selfless, passionate young woman who always put others before herself. Nothing was ever too much for Eleisha. She had a heart of gold and a smile that could light up any room."

They described Skinner as "active and adventurous," nodding to her participation in extracurriculars like water polo and synchronized swimming. During her reign as Miss Faversham, she raised money for charity and proudly represented the town at local events. She later earned another title when she was voted Miss Congeniality, "a true reflection of her kind spirit," her parents told PEOPLE.

"We are utterly devastated by the sudden loss of our precious girl. We would like to express our deepest thanks to the emergency services and the incredible staff at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxfordshire. Their compassion allowed us precious time to be with Eleisha in her final days, surrounded by close family and friends," Nigel and Clare said in their statement.

"Eleisha fought bravely, but due to a lack of oxygen to her brain, she did not regain consciousness. She passed peacefully on 8 January 2026, with her family by her side, listening to 'Beautiful' by One Direction," the grieving parents added. "Eleisha will forever remain in our hearts, our beautiful princess, whose love and light will never fade."
