Carmen Electra gives PEOPLE an update on being "in a good place" these days

In addition to returning to the Scary Movie franchise in its new installment, the former Baywatch star is working on a documentary and book about her life, she says

"I'm the happiest when I'm working," says Electra

Carmen Electra is having a moment — and loving it.

"I've gone through so many highs and lows," the dancer-actress, 54, tells PEOPLE. But in the current era of her life, she adds, "I'm in a good place. I'm really happy."

Electra is having a full-circle moment as she (spoiler alert) returns to theScary Movie franchise in its new sequel-reboot (in theaters now) 25 years after appearing in the original 2000 horror spoof. It's the first time she's graced the screen since 2023's Good Burger 2 and a Kid LAROI music video last year.

Also "in the works," she teases, are a documentary and book about her life. "I love to work. Honestly, I've always been this way. I don't know if it's a Taurus trait — because I'm a double Taurus — I have no idea. Everyone says Taurus are very lazy and I do like my downtime, but I love to work."

Electra adds, "I'm the happiest when I'm working and I'm in a really good solid relationship." So between finding her "forever house" and getting a poodle puppy Bambi Lion Electra, she quips, "now I just need the man." (Electra was married to Dennis Rodman from 1998 to 1999 and to Dave Navarro from 2003 to 2007.)

Perhaps an iteration of MTV's reality dating series Singled Out, which Electra hosted from 1997 to 1998, could be rebooted just like the new Scary Movie and Baywatch. "I would still be down to be a part of it in some type of way," she says. "I think it would be really cool to do a dating show again. Why not? I can't seem to get it right so I might as well have one!"

What is a day in Electra's fabulous life like? Nights include parties like West Hollywood bar The Abbey's 35th anniversary event, which saw the Playboy cover star inheriting a Roberto Cavalli bunny costume a Roberto Cavalli bunny costume and catching up with Christina Aguilera. Days can include stumbling across the set ofCalabasas Confidential; Electra appears in the new Netflix reality show's fourth episode after stopping by her then-boyfriend's tattoo parlor. "I honestly had no idea what the show was, obviously it wasn't out yet! And now it's doing really well," she says.

The new Scary Movie, from writer-stars Marlon and Shawn Wayans and director Michael Tiddes, opens with knowing winks to the 2000 original film, which featured Electra in a scene inspired by Drew Barrymore's opening scene in Scream.

"I was just over the moon to get that call to be in this one again," says Electra, calling working with the Wayans siblings "such an honor and so much fun. [I'm] just so happy for this moment to be in this movie with everyone again."

Scary Movie, led by Anna Faris and Regina Hall, is in theaters now.
