Dak Prescott is breaking his silence about his broken engagement
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback looked back at the relationship in an interview with the Dallas Morning News while at training camp this week
Prescott said the coverage of the split involved “false narratives”
Dak Prescott is speaking out about his broken engagement to ex-fiancée Sarah Jane Ramos.
On the eve of his 11th season with the Dallas Cowboys, the quarterback is clearing the air about the “false narratives” surrounding the end of his relationship with Ramos.
The couple, who share two young daughters, called off their engagement in March, five weeks before their wedding in Italy.
“There were a lot of false narratives out there on both of our sides,” Prescott, 33, said in an interview with the Dallas Morning News.

He added, “Yeah, it was an unfortunate situation for obviously everybody. More importantly, the kids. And so for me, it’s just about making sure I’m there in every which way for them.”
In March, Prescott and Ramos called off their wedding after dating for more than two years.
A representative for Ramos told PEOPLE exclusively at the time that Ramos and Prescott were “both heartbroken that they’re not getting married.” The rep added, “There wasn’t any rockiness in the lead up, and there was no big argument or blow up. It was a mutual decision.”
The wine spirits specialist, 32, and the Cowboys signal-caller share daughters Margaret Jane, 2, and Aurora, 1.

In April, the former couple came to a temporary custody agreement.
One month later, Ramos shared a carousel of images from a photoshoot while marking her first Mother’s Day without Prescott.
“Celebrating every mom, of all kinds, all week long 💝,” Ramos wrote in the caption of her latest Instagram post with the girls. “Grateful for the one that raised me, the amazing moms that surround me and pour into my family, and, most importantly, getting to be my sweet, fearless, beautiful babies’ mama.”
This week, the girls were seen cheering their dad on at Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, Calif.
For Prescott, the experience was seemingly tough to navigate — but he’s determined to move past it.

“Yeah, I mean, I don’t necessarily think it was public to me,” he told the Morning News. “Once again, I believe what you take in, what you read, what you look up, you’re doing that to yourself.”
