Earl Spencer's wife has spoken out following the release of her husband's contentious book about Princess Diana.
The earl's controversial memoir about his late sister has generated international headlines due to its series of claims regarding King Charles, though he maintained it was not a "hit piece on the King."
Speaking on the ITV program Lorraine, Diana's brother, who delivered a memorable eulogy at her funeral, stated, "This is about Diana. It was impossible to give the full story of Diana's life without putting certain things in context." It comes as Earl Spencer said his late sister would have "applauded" his memoir.

In his memoir, Earl Spencer asserts that the King, then the Prince of Wales, remarked about Diana, "we'll forget her soon enough" during a dispute over whether the then Princes William and Harry should walk behind their mother's casket during her funeral procession.
The book also claims the King "sounded giddily elated - like a lottery winner" when he contacted the earl following Diana's death.

These allegations triggered criticism and a forceful statement from Buckingham Palace, which indicated the King was "mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgement and color memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss."
Now, the earl's wife, Professor Cat Jarman, has addressed her husband's work, following its publication on September 22, reports the Express.

Prof Jarman posted on her Instagram account, "Happy publication day, @charles.earl.spencer! I am incredibly proud of you.

"I've been endlessly impressed by your resilience and determination this past year, from the moment you decided to go ahead with this project: all those mornings you got up at 4am to write; some days the memories you unearthed were glorious, others they were utterly heartbreaking.
"I'm so pleased people can finally read Swan Song for themselves and get a glimpse into the sister you wrote this book for. I feel very lucky to be by your side."
Former tabloid editor Piers Morgan has alleged that the royal family are "spitting blood" over Earl Spencer's memoir about Diana - titled Swan Song: Diana, My Sister - and that he wants to "destroy" the reputation of the King.
Morgan has called on Diana's brother to pulp the remaining copies of his book and instructed his lawyers to demand the work be pulled from sale immediately.
The earl issued a renewed apology after incorrectly claiming in his memoir that Morgan was responsible for publishing covertly-taken photographs of Diana exercising in a leotard at a gym, which appeared in the Daily Mirror in 1993.
Morgan was employed at The Sun at that time and did not take up his position as editor of the Mirror until 1995.
