The Ingalls family is looking for a "fresh start" on the Western frontier.

The first trailer for Netflix's *Little House on the Prairie* shows the beloved family from Laura Ingalls Wilder’s* Little House* books roughing it to build a new life.

"This will be our new forever," says Laura Ingalls (played by Alice Halsey), as the trailer shows her family trying to settle in and, at times, simply survive while building their new home near the growing frontier town of Independence.

The trailer previews the Ingalls braving obstacles such as sickness, wolves, and a house fire, as well as learning the land they plan to make a life on is not so "free."**

Rounding out the Ingalls family is Luke Bracey as "Pa" Charles Ingalls, Crosby Fitzgerald as "Ma" Caroline Ingalls, and Skywalker Hughes as Laura’s older sister, Mary Ingalls.

Showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine shared with *** *how her adaptation will be more than a reboot or a revival of the beloved 1974–1983 NBC television drama *Little House on the Prairie.*

"The spirit of the [original] show is going to overlap. We're also using a little bit of the history of Laura Ingalls Wilder's real life, which the show did as well... and there are things we incorporated in the show that are from outside the books, that were part of her life, or a part of history at that time," Sonnenshine explained.

The writer of *The Housemaid* and producer on series like *The Vampire Diaries *and *The Boys *added that the series will ultimately be an "enduring and heartfelt story about a family who stays together no matter what."
