Gabourey Sidibe shared her 2-year-old twins are excited about Halloween for the first time
Her son Cooper wants to dress as a blackberry, while her daughter Maya changes her costume choice daily
Sidibe joked about sewing the unique costume and clarified it’s the fruit, not the phone, her son loves
Gabourey Sidibe’s kids already have their Halloween costumes picked out.
The American Horror Story actress, 43, appeared on Good Morning America on Thursday, Sept. 24, and shared that her 2-year-old twins Cooper and Maya are excited about Halloween for the first time. Sidibe, who shares her kids with husband Brandon Frankel, said their toddlers have even requested certain costumes.
“My kids are really excited for the first time [for Halloween]. Because now they know, they’re two, so they know what it is now,” said Sidibe. “So we’re letting them choose their costumes.”
“My daughter, every time I ask — I’m doing this thing where I ask them every day. Every day my daughter says something different. A cow! A cat! A werewolf!” she continues. “My son? A blackberry! Every day! Wants to be a blackberry!”

“A blackberry?” asks GMA co-host Michael Strahan. “I will be sewing a blackberry costume, because that’s what he wants to be,” shares Sidibe.
GMA Co-host George Stephanopoulos went on to ask what Sidibe’s son knows about Blackberries, seemingly referring to the phone and not the fruit.
“I don’t know! He’s eaten one! He’s eaten some,” responds Sidibe. “But I don’t know what his relationship is like yet.”

“Oh, not the device?” asks Stephanopoulos. “Not the phone,” laughs Sidibe. “No, yeah, the fruit. He is 2.”
While Stephanopoulos laughs, Strahan jumps in to say that a kid doesn’t know what a BlackBerry phone is.
“He’s not a business manager in the 2010s. He’s a child!” jokes Sidibe.
Back in May, Sidibe spoke with PEOPLE and revealed what she did for Mother’s Day with her family of four.
She shared how she celebrated the holiday with her husband, Brandon Frankel, and their twins. The actress said the day was “actually pretty nice,” sharing that they enjoyed their Sunday outside at a butterfly pavilion.
“I got to be home for [Mother’s Day]. I thought I was going to have to be here. We took the kids to a butterfly pavilion so they could see butterflies,” she said. “It was the first time — they love dinosaurs, but they’ve never seen dinosaurs — and so we took them to the dinosaur room at the museum, and my daughter was like, ‘So many dinosaurs!’ It was so much fun.”
Still, Sidibe admitted that Mother’s Day can be “so hard” for both moms and dads. “It’s so hard when you’re also a mom because it’s like you put it on for them, but you’re like, damn lady.”
