For many, an all-time favorite might be the O.G. High School Musical, which premiered on the beloved channel nearly 20 years ago (believe it or not). And now, in honor of the whopping milestone, Disney is making sure to honor the iconic television movie that would ultimately spawn two sequels, a spinoff movie and TV series.
From now through March 4, Disney+ is celebrating with a dedicated streaming channel featuring all three films, plus Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure (the spinoff movie), every season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and more. Fans can revisit iconic moments and discover the broader world of Disney’s music-driven storytelling — all available anytime on the beloved platform.
Plus, the official Disney Channel Instagram account just posted the High School Musical throwback trailer that aired on TV back in the day for fans to enjoy as the exact anniversary date (Jan. 20) fast approaches. See below.

Fans flooded the comments section of Disney Channel's post on Saturday, Jan. 10 to show their love for the Zac Efron-Vanessa Hudgens starrer. "i will truly never forget the feeling after seeing hsm for the first time… 🥹❤️," wrote one user, while another person commented, "I miss the old Disney channel announcer, also crazy that this movie is turning 20."
Having debuted to the masses in 2006, High School Musical helped define Disney’s approach to cross-generational, music-driven storytelling and remains a blueprint for the kind of franchise-building that the entertainment brand is known for. Just look at current hits like the Descendants and Zombies franchises.
