Goodman has been on a weight loss journey since the mid-2000s. During a 2010 interview with David Letterman, Goodman confessed he reached 400 pounds at one point.
āIād get off of Roseanne every spring. Iād lose 60 pounds every spring,ā he explained. āIād gain it back and then some, every year. Itās going to be an ongoing process for the rest of my life.ā
After struggling to keep the pounds off, Goodman decided to get serious about his wellbeing and make some lifestyle changes. Goodman previously shared that he struggled with overeating and alcoholism.

āI was just eating all the time. I was just eating alcoholically. In the old days, I would take three months out, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a 6-pack of Bud or whatever and just go back to my old habits,ā he said in a 2016 interview with ABC News. āThen this time I wanted to do it slowly, move, exercise. Iām getting to the age where I canāt afford to sit still anymore. And it gives me the energy to work, ācause work is very draining.ā
As the years have passed, Goodman has continued to put in the work. In 2023, he revealed that he was officially down 200 pounds after adding kickboxing to his exercise plan.
āI dug it. Yeah. Nobodyās going to get hurt, but itās just hitting the mitts and trying to learn,ā he said about boxing in a June 2023 interview with Rolling Stone. āI never got good enough where I would trust myself to spar because once I get whacked in the face, I donāt know if I wouldnāt lose it.ā
