Neil Diamond couldn't make the Los Angeles world premiere of "Song Sung Blue" in October, so Hollywood came to the 84-year-old legendary singer-songwriter.
Kate Hudson, who costars with Hugh Jackman in the Diamond-song-filled musical drama (in theaters Christmas Day), attended a special Aspen screening near Diamond's home Dec. 23.
It was a famous family affair with Hudson bringing along her parents, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, her fiancé, Danny Fujikawa, along with her brothers Oliver Hudson and Wyatt Russell (and Wyatt's wife, actress Meredith Hagner). Diamond's wife, Katie McNeil Diamond, also attended.

One of the bigger revelations for Hudson in making the drama, in which she stars as tribute band singer Claire Sardina, was finding out that she grew up near Diamond's Colorado home. They never crossed paths.
"He was like 10 minutes from me, how could I not have met Neil Diamond?" Hudson told USA TODAY. "That was like 39 years of my life. It's so weird."

Singer and songwriter Neil Diamond's music career spans five decades, marked by beloved hits and global acclaim. A look back at his years in music ahead of the Diamond-inspired movie "Song Sung Blue," starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson. Here, Diamond is seen in London for his first British concert during a tour of Europe in 1971.
Hudson has made up for lost time, singing her Diamond heart out as Claire Sardina, along with Jackman, who plays Mike Sardina. The Sardinas performed as the tribute duo Lighting & Thunder in the 1990s.
After filming, Hudson made the trek to visit Diamond, who has retired from touring after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. The two sat on Diamond's front porch, drank lemonade, and talked. The visit inspired Jackman to make his own visit, during which he sang karaoke with Diamond.
