Kate Middleton dropped her royal status with "contagious confidence" while championing a cause close to her heart.
On September 24, the 44-year-old Princess of Wales visited the Forward Trust in Southend-on-Sea to mark Addiction Awareness Week, where she continued to champion healing through nature. Kate learned about Forward Growing, a community program that uses gardening to help attendees build confidence.
The special outing comes months after the mother of three opened up about how the restorative power of nature helped her in her cancer journey. Now, after analyzing Kate's interactions at the engagement, body language expert Judi James believes she essentially dropped her Princess title and "communicated as one healed or healing person to another."

After observing the Prince and Princess of Wales' Instagram post about the outing, James told The Express US, "As a solo royal here, Kate's body language shows us this really is her 'sweet spot' in terms of being a cause that is at the heart of her campaigning work, with very personal emotional links to the messages she is promoting.
"Kate has always spoken of the healing power of nature and how she believes it helped her through her cancer treatment."

The body language expert added, "Her belief in this message is reflected in her body language 'state' here: this is not a visit of just support and sympathy, she looks at peak, upbeat energy and smiling confidence as though keen to inspire others via her own signals of restored health and healing.
"There is a hand on the heart gesture as she chats to show the depth of her emotional commitment to this cause, but her signals of projected, contagious confidence and energy dominate."
James concluded, "Her smile looks inspired and when she uses touch or leans across to shake hands there is a suggestion of collusion that seems to level off any status imbalances.
"Her rapport signals show her communicating as one healed or healing person to another rather than being those of a royal making a 'drop in' sympathetic but rapport-distanced visit."
The Prince and Princess of Wales' Instagram post was captioned, "Supporting recovery through connection, community and the restorative power of nature.

"Forward Growing is a community initiative created for people accessing The Forward Trust's Southend Treatment and Recovery Service (STARS), in partnership with Garon Park."

It continued, "Inspiring to see people come together through gardening, walking, creativity and conversation, building confidence, developing new skills and helping to shape a dedicated Forward Garden.
"A lasting place for wellbeing, recovery and connection, where supportive relationships and community can flourish. Spending time in nature, learning new skills and nurturing a shared garden is a reminder that recovery is rarely a journey made alone."
The message concluded, "Relationships, community and a sense of purpose can play an important role in helping people move forward. Like any journey of growth, recovery takes time, patience and support, but with these, resilience can grow and new beginnings become possible."
At the engagement, Kate joined a potting session while the charity's staff explained how time spent out in nature can help people through addiction recovery.
The Forward Trust, which Kate has been a patron of since 2021, launched Forward Growing with Garon Park earlier this year. The project runs weekly gardening sessions to create a permanent recovery garden.
The outing came during the charity's Big Addiction Conversation campaign, an initiative that encourages open discussions about addiction and the stigma that surrounds it.

Kate's appearance at the charity is her latest effort to support addiction-related causes, a commitment she has maintained for more than a decade.
Action on Addiction became one of her first royal patronages in 2012, and after it merged with the Forward Trust, she became its patron in 2021.
The outing comes two days after Kate made a dazzling appearance at the London premiere of Tom Cruise's new film, Digger. Walking the red carpet with her husband, Prince William, Kate proved she's the "antidote" for the royal family's "rash of dramas."
She stunned in a purple, floor-length Jenny Packham dress and paired her look with Princess Diana's pearl drop earrings. The jewelry was a telling gesture as this was the royal couple's first public appearance since the release of Earl Spencer's bombshell memoir about his late sister, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister.
James previously told The Express US that she believes Kate became a guiding light for the royal family by shedding all the drama surrounding the book at the premiere.
The body language expert said, "Kate looks totally radiant here, the perfect answer and antidote to all the current rash of dramas and accusations leveled against the royals."
