This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke with NBC Sports reporter Kathryn Tappen.

In her interview with Easton Jr., Tappen discusses her participation in this year's American Century Championship, which will take place July 10-12 at Edgewood Tahoe and air on NBC and Peacock. She discussed Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' recent viral golf swing video.

"I'm just super honored to be a part of it, to participate, and to be asked to join the field again. I think this is my 10th year playing in the (American Century Championship) tournament." said Tappen, "It's such a great week of celebrating, the money we raise for charity, but also the friendships that have evolved over the years, it's almost like summer camp for us, all these people from all these industries and different teams and leagues come together, and we're all supporting American Century Investments and the charitable foundations. I think it's great, and it's a fun week."

A few weeks ago, the three-time Super Bowl champion released a video on his social media accounts, taking a confident swing off the tee at his '15 and the Mahomies Golf Classic.' The moment caught everyone's attention, since it was months after surgery. Tappen weighed in on it.

"I am always rooting for Patrick Mahomes, and I would never bet against him. I think he knows how to get his body back. We've seen Patrick hurt in games, and he still performs at an elite level and wins Super Bowls when he's not at his best physically. So, I actually love that he's back playing golf," said Tappen. "I love that he's recovering from surgery, playing different sports, getting himself out there." Like all of us who love the game of golf, I think we use it as a tool mentally and physically, but I think it means a lot when you're able to get back on the golf course. It's a hobby for us, and for Patrick. He's very good at it, but for him to show those videos of him playing golf means he's happy, he's healthy, he's recovering, it's all positive, and that's all you can hope for from Mahomes right now at this stage in his recovery."

The annual tournament awards $750,000 in prize money, much of which the celebrity players donate to local and national charities. Over the years, over $8 million has been donated to non-profit causes. Network television exposure on NBC/Peacock and a first-place prize of $150,000 make the celebrity tournament one of the most prestigious in golf.
