Rob Reiner and his son, Nick Reiner, were involved in a heated argument the night before the beloved filmmaker and his wife, photographer Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their home in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon in an apparent double homicide.**

The argument between Rob and Nick occurred during a holiday party on Saturday night, hosted by Conan O'Brien, according to PEOPLE. The outlet reports that a source recalled Nick, 32, was "freaking everyone out, acting crazy, kept asking people if they were famous."

TMZ broke the news that Rob, 78, and Nick got into a "loud" argument during the party, and that Rob and Michele, 68, left the party after the verbal altercation.

The news comes as Nick has been taken into police custody in the aftermath of his parents' deaths for an alleged felony charge, according to Los Angeles Sheriff's Department records. Nick was arrested on Sunday night at 9:15 p.m. and taken into custody the following day at 5:04 a.m.**

A statement posted to the Los Angeles Police Department's website announces that the LAPD's investigation found Nick "responsible" for his parents' death. "He was booked for murder and remains in custody with no bail," the statement continues.

The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration Tuesday.

Tracy told NBC News that the sudden passing of her father and his wife has left her stunned. "I came from the greatest family ever," she told the outlet. "I don't know what to say. I’m in shock."

Rob's family also shared a statement to *Variety* after the filmmaker's death, writing, "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time."**
