Shannen Doherty's ex-husband, Ashley Hamilton, is reportedly recovering after suffering an apparent overdose.

According to TMZ, the actor was found unresponsive on Thursday, April 2, in an Airbnb in Southern California after experiencing a medical emergency related to an unknown substance.

He was reportedly rushed to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition at the time of publication.

Us Weekly has reached out to Hamilton’s rep for comment.

Hamilton, 51, married Doherty in 1993 after just two weeks of dating. The couple later split after only five months of marriage.

When Doherty died in July 2024 at the age of 53 following a breast cancer diagnosis, Hamilton paid tribute to his ex in a statement.

“Shannen was not only my wife, she was my guardian angel,” Hamilton said in a statement to Us at the time. “Even though things don’t always work out the way we hope they will, she stood by my side during some of my darkest times. My love and admiration for her lasted far longer than our short-lived marriage.”

Before her death, Doherty got candid about her relationship with Hamilton on her iHeartRadio podcast “Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty.”

“Towards my last season [on Beverly Hills, 90210], I was in a really horrible marriage and there were things transpiring in that marriage that made it very hard for me to consistently be on time for work,” Doherty said in a January 2024 episode. “And I know that that became a very big problem for the rest of you, because as it should be, because if everybody else is on time and you’re waiting for one person, it sucks.”

Ashley, who is the son of George Hamilton and Alana Stewart, went on to welcome a daughter with Renee Karalian in November 2016. In a rare social media post, Ashley shared a glimpse into his fatherhood journey.

“Blessed to have a daughter with a heart of gold and her amazing mom,” he wrote via Instagram in January.

Through all the ups and downs of his life, Ashley has been open about his struggles with substance abuse. In a 2023 Instagram post, the Iron Man 3 actor reflected on all of the progress he has made away from any cameras.

“I spent half my life here in the UK🇬🇧 I was raised in this home and hit rock bottom, and destroyed my dreams and career that I had worked so long and hard for,” he wrote via Instagram in August 2023. “That doesn’t have to be your story. 16 years ago, I left this house and country, a different person than I am today. I couldn’t have done this journey alone. It’s Not always been easy, but it’s been worth it. Substance use disorder Is an equal opportunity killer. Thank you for all of the support on this journey, you know who you are. 🙏 #recoveryispossible❤️.”
