Emmy winner Terence Winter is adapting the upcoming memoir from Jay Stratton, the most senior U.S. official to investigate UAP (the preferred new term for UFOs).

The Emmy winner is teaming up with producer Dan Farah, the filmmaker behind the groundbreaking documentary Age of Disclosure, to develop a new series based on the upcoming memoir by former intelligence official Jay Stratton, the central figure in the U.S. government’s modern investigation of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) and non-human intelligent life.
“For all of human history, mankind has wondered whether we are the only intelligent life in the universe,” Winter says of the new project. “Jay Stratton’s shocking true story answers that question and more as it delves into the world of the U.S. Government’s investigation of UAP and non-human intelligent life.”
Described by Farah as the closest thing to a real-life Agent Mulder from The X-Files, Stratton’s work “has changed the course of history,” adds Winter, whose other credits include Boardwalk Empireand The Wolf of Wall Street.
In his memoir Out of the Shadows, which EW exclusively announced in June, the former intelligence official provides “a startling first-hand account of the shocking discoveries, encounters, challenges, and behind-the-scenes revelations that not only profoundly altered his understanding of humanity’s place in the universe, but also took a disturbing toll on him and his family.”

Though Stratton’s family was initially in the dark about his discovery that we are not alone in the universe, he says, “That all changed when we started having UAP activity and encounters with non-human intelligent life at our house, and my wife and kids saw it with their own eyes.”

A key figure in Farah’s best-selling doc, which Steven Spielberg told EW helped set the stage for his latest film Disclosure Day, Stratton spoke about discovering an 80-year cover-up of non-human intelligent life and detailed his fight against powerful gatekeepers who have hidden the truth.

In addition to Stratton, the film (released in 2025) featured interviews with 34 senior members of the U.S. legislative, military, and intelligence communities, including former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and current Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Out of the Shadows: Revealing the Truth About Non-Human Intelligent Life will hit shelves in North America on Oct. 13 via HarperCollins’ William Morrow imprint.
