Taylor Swift has revealed she was "very non-athlete" in her dating preferences before meeting her now-fiancé Travis Kelce
The pop superstar made the confession during a conversation with her mom Andrea Swift during the latest episodes of her Disney+ docuseries, The End of an Era
Taylor and Travis, both, 36, announced their engagement in August
Taylor Swift is getting candid about her dating preferences before her relationship with Travis Kelce.
Speaking in her Disney+ docuseries The End of Era, which dropped two more episodes on Friday, Dec. 19, the musician, 36, revealed that she was against dating athletes before meeting her Kansas City Chiefs fiancé, also 36.
“I've been very non-athlete because I'm not one and I've always been like, 'What would we talk about?' Taylor says during a conversation with her mom, Andrea Swif as the pair recall how Andrea encouraged her to meet Travis after seeing his public plea on his New Heights podcast.
"So you call me up with this tone of, 'Hey, I know you're going to not react well to this, but there's a guy...’ Taylor continued.
Her mom, 67, added, “He's really cute.”

"You said something to the effect of, "You gotta start doing something different,’ ” Taylor continued with a laugh.
“I’m looking at the headlines and perusing around on the Internet and I see that this guy came to your show and he brought a friendship bracelet and wants to meet you,” Andrea recalled. “So I call up my resident expert on the Kansas City Chiefs, my cousin Robin, and I go, ‘Tell me about this guy named Travis Kelce.’ ”
It was Robin’s response that sealed the deal for Andrea. “She goes, ‘Oh my God, he is the nicest guy! And he really loves his mom.’ And I went, ‘Ding, ding, ding, ding,’ ” Andrea said with a laugh. “And then I said, ‘Now, how in the world am I going to get her to meet him?’ "
Taylor goes on to open up about how the duo have so many similarities in their careers despite their different occupations.
"Relationships on tour has always been something I've really struggled with because it always felt like the tour was taking away from the relationship," she said. “Somehow there's been this dynamic shift with Travis because it's shocking how many similarities we have towards our jobs and how we view them and how we view each other. We both have jobs where we go out in NFL stadiums and we entertain people for three and a half hours.”

The “Cruel Summer” artist added that although her man’s sport has “more violence,” he’s “not in heels.”
“But it's our passion,” she continued. “We've been chasing this since we were little kids. So I don't think I ever though I'd meet a guy who had that same trajectory.”
She added, “Travis is just very comfortable with, conceptually speaking, a big life. Because he has one. And it's not one that he has reluctantly, he's very comfortable with it.”
The “You Belong With Me” hitmaker continued of their romance, “I think ultimately it's the way he treats me. It's very clear. And I think that's one of the reasons why the fans are so in love with him. Because you should be, you know? He's very lovable.”
The episode also saw Taylor open up about previously questioning whether anyone would love her.
"Feeling like I'm no a person, I'm just this big conglomerate that no one sees as a human being and like, especially not men that I date," she said. "And in the whole process just being like, 'Nothing works. There's no one for me in the world.' "
"First of all if you ever would have told me that the most meaningful relationship I'd ever have would have had would start with a man saying that he was butt-hurt that I didn't want to meet him? Like, unbelievable. Unbelievable," she added.
Taylor and Kelce announced their engagement in August 2025 after two years of dating.
"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨," they wrote in a joint Instagram post alongside photos of Kelce getting down on one knee in an outdoor floral setting, which was later revealed to be in the backyard of his home.
