Taylor Swift teased her “Patient Zero” music video on Thursday.
Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell are set to star in it.
Swift will debut the video during the 2026 MTV VMAs on Sunday.

On Thursday morning, the singer dropped a 13-second teaser of the music video for her new single, “Patient Zero,” which is set to feature Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell.
“This Sunday,” Swift captioned the clip, revealing that the video will premiere at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards. (Swift will be in attendance to accept the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors.)
The teaser starts with Swift at a bathroom sink before she and another woman, presumably Johnson, dive into a pool simultaneously. The two women are also standing at a gravesite at one point, as Swift puts her hand on Johnson’s back. Fans also get a close-up of Swift’s engagement and wedding rings. Farrell, a surprise addition to Swift’s inner circle, steps out of a car as the clip cuts to Johnson. The trio, all dressed in black, are then sitting in a room together.
What does it all mean? Swifites will tell you on Sunday — but for those who can’t wait, X is probably full of theories.
Swift announced on Sept. 22 that she will drop “Patient Zero” on Friday with an Instagram post.

“I’ve been impatiently waiting to tell you that my brand new single “Patient Zero” will be out on September 25 (!!!!!!!!!!!!)” she wrote. “And it’s available to pre-order now on my website for 24 hours.”
The next day, Swift shared that “Patient Zero” is just one of four new songs set to be released on The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore. The other three songs are “Pink Clouding,” “Babylon,” and “Cleveland!” (the last of which is her husband Travis Kelce’s hometown).
“About a year ago, you guys did a truly unfathomable thing. Something that completely blew my mind… You gave The Life of a Showgirlthe biggest first week for an album in history,” she captioned the announcement. “I took a trip to Sweden to celebrate with Max and Shellback, my two collaborators on this album.”

Swift continued. “Really we just wanted to reflect and take in how grateful we were for the moment we were in, but there was a studio there and we did what we do when we feel anything at all: We wrote more songs. I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made.”
