“The Wire ”cast reunites to celebrate Dominic West nearly 25 years after the show premiered

Dominic West reunited with Wendell Pierce at the War premiere in New York City on Sept. 22.

The duo played McNulty and Bunk, respectively, on The Wire for five seasons.

Several other The Wire cast members were also in attendance to support West’s new show.

McNulty and Bunk are together again, the world is healing.

Dominic West reunited with Wendell Pierce at the New York City premiere of Sky and HBO’s new legal thriller, War, on Sept. 22. The actors played Jimmy McNulty and Bunk Moreland, respectively, in HBO’s The Wire for all five seasons, which aired from 2002 to 2008.

The official HBO Instagram account shared a photo of West and Pierce holding hands while smiling for the camera during Tuesday’s event. “McNulty and Bunk, happy together again,” the caption read. The network also shared a series of other photos including other The Wire alums.

Hassan Johnson (Roland “Wee-Bey” Brice), Deirdre Lovejoy (Rhonda Pearlman), Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (D’Angelo Barksdale), Jamie Hector (Marlo Stanfield), and Jermaine Crawford (Duquan “Dukie” Weems) were also in attendance. The cast snapped several selfies, which they shared on social media.

“A mini reunion of THE WIRE last night as we gathered at the premiere of WAR, the new HBO series starring Dominic West and Sienna Miller,” Pierce shared via X. “25 years and counting.”

Gilliard Jr. also shared his support for West, posting photos from the event on his own Instagram account. “About last night!!!” he wrote. “The Wire crew showed up to support our brother Dominic West’s latest HBO endeavor, WAR! Another winner!”

West’s interview with Entertainment Weekly’s sister site, PEOPLE, was interrupted when Johnson stepped in to hug his former costar. “I gotta crash this, I’m sorry,” Johnson said. West grabbed him for a hug.

“I haven’t seen you in years!” The Crownactor said as they embraced. Johnson continued, “Dom, I miss you, bro! Look at you, you’re looking so good.” Johnson said he would wait for West to finish up his interview so they could have a proper catchup.

“That’s so nice,” West told PEOPLE. “I haven’t seen him for — that’s amazing. There’s a few The Wire people here tonight.”

West previously discussed how he and Pierce got along right off the bat.

“We hit it off right from the beginning. For my first New York audition Wendell had already been cast,” West recalled to BuzzFeedin 2022, when celebrating the show’s 20th anniversary. “He was the first person cast and thank f--- he was — it was because he was in the room and that we hit it off so well that I got the part. He’s been such a joy to act with and be around.”

The Wire is now streaming on HBO.
