Travis Barker says he doesn’t watch The Kardashians and doesn’t approve or review episodes he appears in

Barker and Kourtney Kardashian shared their miscarriage journey in his new documentary to help others relate to similar experiences

His new Hulu documentary explores his rise to fame and personal struggles including a 2008 plane crash

Travis Barker is sharing how he really feels about reality TV.

During an appearance on The New York Timesā€˜ Popcast, the Blink-182 drummer was asked for his thoughts on sharing his personal life on The Kardashians — and if it inspired his new Hulu documentary Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear.

ā€œI kind of don’t even realize I’m on the show,ā€ Barker, 50, who’s married to Kourtney Kardashian Barker, said.

ā€œI don’t watch the show... I think the best way for me to deal with stuff like that or to be a part of things like that is to not really acknowledge that I’m being filmed or anything different’s happening,ā€ he said. ā€œI never even approve episodes or watch them.ā€

He then pointed out that he’s not a ā€œmain characterā€ on the show — so it’s not a big deal.

ā€œI’m an accessory,ā€ he said.

The hosts asked about his approach when their 2022 wedding was documented on the show — and he said that he did sit down to watch that with Kardashian, 47.

ā€œShe put a bunch of footage together for our wedding, which was really cool,ā€ he said, adding, ā€œBut the show, it wasn’t really a learning curve to opening up or anything.ā€

Elsewhere in the interview, he also opened up about why he and Kardashian decided to talk about their miscarriage on camera.

ā€œWhen there’s things that can benefit people or help people relate to something, I think that’s always a green light, especially — she’s always trying to do something like that,ā€ Barker explained. ā€œOur journey of miscarriages and then IVF and it’s failed, resulting in us having a baby naturally — I feel like that’s a story that so many people can relate [to].ā€

Barker’s appearance on The Kardashians isn’t his first run with reality TV. In 2005, Barker had his own reality series called Meet the Barkers, which followed his life with ex-wife Shanna Moakler and their family.

The rock star’s upcoming film is set to premiere on Aug. 13 on Hulu and Disney+. Speaking with PEOPLE at its Tribeca Festival world premiere in June, he said Kardashian has ā€œwatched the documentary so many times.ā€

ā€œThey’ve all been super supportive, and I wouldn’t be here without all the love from them,ā€ the musician added of his family.

Louder Than Fear, directed by Justin Krook and Michael Dwyer, documents the star’s journey to fame and his personal battles, including the aftermath of his 2008 private plane crash. The 99-minute movie will feature interviews with people in the music industry and his loved ones.
