Gonzalez shares comical impressions of Bad Bunny on TikTok
While he doesn't believe the singer knows he exists, they did share a moment at the Grammy winner's Puerto Rico residency
Marcos Gonzalez doubts that Bad Bunny is aware of his online impressions, but if the Grammy winner does, the comedian hopes he knows they come from a place of love.
Gonzalez, whose family is Puerto Rican, tells PEOPLE he was building out his characters and comedic portfolio when he had an idea to impersonate the "Tití Me Preguntó" singer.
One day, he decided to post a TikTok inspired by the thought of Bad Bunny being cast on Stranger Things, which he had previously used in a Saturday Night Live audition.
After posting the video, he decided to take a nap, but when he woke up, he was shocked to see it had gone viral, amassing over 800,000 views. Initially, Gonzalez admits he thought something was wrong when he saw how many notifications he had.
However, users seemed to love the video, despite Gonzalez acknowledging that it's not a "spot on impression" by a long shot.
"I'm just doing it for vibes. It's just fun. I love Bad Bunny," the 31-year-old tells PEOPLE. "I'm not trying to piss him off or anything. This is all for fun. I never want to be like, 'This is me trying to do the exact voice.' "
"I wanna give them something weird," Gonzalez continues. "He does have that whimsical nature, so it lent itself to that. It's like you're building up the character outside of just the person."
As a fellow Puerto Rican, Gonzalez emphasizes that Bad Bunny has "done more for the island than anybody I think ever has, and he will continue to."
"I'm very appreciative, respectful and proud that he exists. I think he's awesome," Gonzalez says.

Gonzalez, who started posting his impressions in 2025, says it was impeccable timing when Bad Bunny was announced as the halftime performer for Super Bowl LX, bolstering the comedian's views over the last few months.
"He has been in that moment for the last six months. I don't know if he's seen these, and I'm scared to ask. I don't wanna ask," he says.
While Gonzalez doesn't believe the "Monaco" singer knows who he is, he did have a close encounter with the superstar over the summer.
Gonzalez was "so lucky" to attend the Bad Bunny residency in Puerto Rico, securing a front-row ticket.
During a song, he says the singer stopped right in front of him.
"He took off his glasses, all the music cut, he flexed in front of me, I was like, 'Does he know?' Not that I'm conceited at all. I don't think he knows who I am. But I thought that if he did, this would be the funniest thing he could have done," Gonzalez shares. "Say nothing to me, flex on me and leave. That's arguably the funniest thing a person could do."

Gonzalez admits that he still "gets nervous" with his impressions, as he doesn't ever want it to come across as mockery.
"I don't think I am. I'm not like painting him out to be bad at all. You just don't wanna upset anybody. He's awesome. As a Puerto Rican, the concert was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen, and it was a very emotional night," he says. "I saw really sweet multi-generational families there, all Puerto Rican, dancing together."
"The way he unifies people is so unreal. Then, I stuck around in Puerto Rico for the week after catching up with family and friends — taking it all in and inspiring, hopefully, other written material," he adds.
This isn't Gonzalez's first foray into comedy, however, as he's worked for Funny or Die, been a part of the Groundlings and written for the runaway hit TV show Jury Duty and the Saved By the Bell reboot.
Each video, he says, has bullet points outlining where he wants to go, but he "doesn't know anything else in between."
"It's almost like how we did Jury Duty, where it's like, we have a structure, we know where we need to get to, but I don't know what's gonna be said," he shares. "Sometimes I surprise myself, but it's funny. And other times I'm like, 'God, that was so dumb. Why did I say that?' But, that's part of the whole thing, and it's fun."
Gonzalez will continue doing his Bad Bunny impression while also working on more projects, hopefully with a focus on Puerto Rico and Latin culture.
"I love doing it, and I love being Puerto Rican," he says. "It's really cool to call my grandma, talk to my mom, and my aunt about being Puerto Rican, and learn everything there is to know about our family. It's just been unintentionally a very cathartic moment for my family and me," Gonzalez shares.
