“Yellowjackets” Reveals More ’90s Stars Joining the Cast for Final Season: See First Look Photos (Exclusive)

PEOPLE has an exclusive first look at Molly Ringwald, Devon Sawa, June Squibb and more joining Yellowjackets for its final season

Ringwald will play Vicky, the mother of Van, while additional newcomers will make their debut in season 4

Yellowjackets returns for its fourth and final season on Friday, Nov. 20

Yellowjackets is adding major star power for its final season.

PEOPLE can exclusively reveal a first look at Molly Ringwald, Devon Sawa, June Squibb and more new additions joining the fourth and final season of the drama series ahead of its Nov. 20 premiere.

In one of the new images, Ringwald’s Vicky is seen sitting alongside her daughter, teen Van Palmer (Liv Hewson), in a Gap hoodie as the pair watch television with bowls of snacks in front of them. According to Deadline, Ringwald’s character is a recently recovered alcoholic who is trying her best to course correct her past.

The first-look photos also offer glimpses at Squibb as Geraldine and Sawa as Howard in the show’s two timelines. Squibb, 96, appears alongside Christina Ricci’s present-day Misty Quigley, though details about her character remain under wraps.

Ricci’s Casper costar Sawa, 48, is seen in the past timeline alongside Sophie Thatcher’s teen Natalie Scatorccio. In the image, Sawa is behind the wheel of a car with Natalie riding beside him.

Other images include a peek at Sam Braun as a teenage Jeff Sadecki, Dulé Hill as Detective Rollins, plus Ken Marino’s new role as Russell opposite Jaylee Hamidi’s Alex.

The newcomers will join a sprawling ensemble that includes Melanie Lynskey, Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins, Nia Sondaya, Jenna Burgess and Hilary Swank.

Yellowjackets, which was Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, follows a high school girls soccer team after its plane crashes in the remote northern wilderness. The series moves between the teenagers’ increasingly brutal fight for survival and the lives the survivors have attempted to rebuild nearly 25 years later, proving that what happened in the past is far from buried.

Paramount+ announced Aug. 20 that the show will conclude with season 4, releasing a chilling teaser that offered the first hints about how the Yellowjackets’ story could come to an end.

“We are live with breaking news: The Wiskayok Yellowjackets have been found,” a news anchor can be heard saying through a static-filled television at the beginning of the teaser.

The broadcast then switches to what appears to be an MTV News update from Kurt Loder about search-and-rescue teams in Canada. As the signal continues to cut in and out, one of the stranded players desperately calls out, “Can anyone hear me?”

The teaser ends by revealing the Nov. 20 premiere date as rows of television screens display the same ominous message: “The final reckoning.”

According to the official logline, the final season finds the survivors racing “to bury their sins before rescue arrives,” while “an old flame roars back into town with plans of her own.”

“Turns out not every homecoming is a joyous one, and this one’s going to sting,” the description teases.

Season 4 comes after the third season left the Yellowjackets with plenty of unfinished business — and members of the cast previously warned PEOPLE that its finale would have major implications for what came next. “The finale is so fun. We were very excited about it,” Nélisse, who plays young Shauna, told PEOPLE ahead of the season 3 closer, titled “Full Circle.”

Though the series will now conclude after four seasons, Lyle and Nickerson previously said they had envisioned roughly five installments to complete the story. “The original plan was about five seasons, and we feel like we’re still on track for that,” Lyle told Entertainment Weekly in March 2023.

“I think that there are shows that can go forever, but I think that when you’re telling such a deeply serialized story and it’s about these characters’ lives, you want to reach a satisfying conclusion and not just drag things out forever,” she added. “This isn’t really one of those setup shows where it can go anywhere.”

Lyle later reiterated at Deadline’s Contenders TV panel that the creative team has long known where the story is ultimately headed. “We pitched this show seven years ago. We have an endpoint in mind,” she said, explaining that while the writers knew their destination, they wanted to “leave some room for how we get there.”

Season 4 of Yellowjackets premieres Friday, Nov. 20, on Paramount+ with the Premium Plan.
